It sure hurts a hell of a lot. However blood, flesh, and bone? They all heal whether you like it or not. Do something miniscule that you despise. Treat yourself at a gas station. These little wins and losses stack up in a way, that if mismanaged, can crush you. Smoke if you want to. Fight your addictions. Don't be made a fool by your tools; you'll morph into a tweaking ghoul if you fail.

i am sorry to hear you have this invisible to others pain. parent yourself- how you would counsel your own child or younger sibling suffering rn? a menu of options: prioritize sleep, exercise regardless, engage music and dance, find creative release, seek out others similarly situated for support, try therapy and/or faith practice, big pharma has pills, playgrounds the sound of joy...apply "sometimes treats" like a mocha as reward for trying one of the above. psychedelics are working for some. know this too will pass and does not define you as a human. stay strong.

It's ok to griev, it's ok to be hurting and it's ok to simply not be ok. Take the time to process, allow yourself to feel what you need to feel, take the steps to better yourself and to grow, we can learn from everything we experience, the harder and more challenging the experience the more we can learn and use to live a healthier and more positive life

I don't know that you'll ever feel "light" the way you once did again. Life and living comes with weight. Accept that you are going to keep changing and probably never be the same again. That doesn't mean you'll always be in despair, though. That, like the absurd, can be resisted. One of the biggest problems in our society today is atomization. It strips away your humanity and adds to that despair. Reach out to others, find those that you can rely on and let them rely on you. (Healthy) Interdependence is the best way to have a strong, tight-knit community. Do what you can to help and make a positive impact. Doesn't need to be big or all at once. You can just build slowly. Make the world 0.0001% better every day and you're already doing great. Make sure you live for yourself, too, and not just improving the world and forming community. Cultivate your tastes, find your hobbies, pursue not just your passions or the greater good but just things you enjoy. Despair comes from stagnation and rot, so allow yourself to grow and flourish. You may not be light the same way again, but you can be happy and fulfilled. And maybe sometimes it'll be like it was before. And maybe you'll find that things get even better.

this is a big "hear me out". obviously we have that whole cultural zeitgeist right now of the charli xcx sweat tour and sweat sort of being a sexy thing again and sweaty club kids and sweaty greasy indie sleaze blah blah blah. this is not that. this is not necessarily sweat as an accessory. this is sweat as an extra layer of skin. this is sweat in your day to day. this is sweat as survival. as it gets into a more humid heat (especially in nyc), you will be tempted to think of sweat as this gross thing to try to avoid at all costs. sweat is your everyday. dress appropriately. be ready to laze in it. dabbing it away gives the desperation of a cigarette smoker, while letting it sit on your face gives the relaxation of the cigar smoker. you can earn your sweat. and once it's earned, THEN you will get to understand why it is sexy outside of a few 2024 viral contexts. sorry if this is insane. also please wear deodorant. please do not smell bad.
