lol this is what I do research about. Also aerobic exercise is literally the most important thing you can be doing. Neuroprotective (ie prevents cognitive decline and can protect against Alzheimer’s) and promotes synaptic growth in the forebrain (cognition and critical thinking areas). Also doing logic puzzles can be immensely beneficial for helping certain cognitive areas you may be lacking in. It also doesn’t take much time (my lab found that ~2 hrs of cognitive training a week significantly improves memory at the synaptic level)
Neuroscientists have shown that the brain is capable of changing and adapting throughout life, a concept known as neuroplasticity. This understanding has implications for recovery from brain injuries, learning new skills, and maintaining cognitive function as we age.

1) diet and lifestyle particularly limiting alcohol and sugar unfortunately because these can contribute to cognitive decline. And make sure to get enough Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet but you’re Kerrygold-pilled so I know you’re on the right path. i would also recommend yoga… 2) reducing stress and potential overproduction of cortisol… These can contribute to brain fog. I love rhodiola rosea for this but check to see if it’s safe to take with any medications you’re on because it can interact with them or reduce their efficacy. It’s an adaptogenic herb with very few side effects but helps a lot with cognitive function and adrenal fatigue caused by cortisol. I also really like phosphatidylserine an amino acid derivative which can help with cognitive function 3) feed your poor brain with intellectually stimulating activities and be selective about the media you choose to consume!! and never stop learning!

since the beginning of the year i've been using elevate (linked). it gives you a few games to do every day and has been a quick and easy way to remind myself i do in fact have a working brain aside from that, just READ!! i know its a lame answer but i truly feel there's no better way to combat brain rot and increase your attention span. you don't even have to read anything serious - whatever you find fun or interesting, read about it instead of watching tiktoks/youtube videos.

😃
- eat food that u like (bonus points if u cook a recipe, I find it very therapeutic) - dont procrastinate on cleaning - do it at the start of ur day and end of ur day (also therapeutic) - move ur body!! dance, walk, run, stretch!!!!!!!! it’ll help regulate ur parasympathetic nervous system - cold showers stimulate neural pathway development :) - be careful with what songs u listen to, make sure the lyrics aren’t..erm condescending bc I believe words u tell urself/listen to are very powerful. - pursue long-form media & hobbies to refocus ur attention span perhaps into a book, a feel-good movie/tv show OR paint, journal, sew clothes, make a bracelet. - explore ur city! pottery classes, farmers markets, botanical gardens, thrift stores, new park, new food spots - always indulge in ur appearance even if u aren’t going anywhere. Wear clean clothes, brush ur hair, be hygienic, indulge in skincare. :)

like actually going out and trying things. put in an effort and take pride in that (being effortless is soooo out for 2024). use this platform to find new amazing things! you can never really know what you like and what brings you joy and fulfillment and all that cheesy stuff unless you actually go and really try a bunch of stuff. I love trying!
