since the beginning of the year i've been using elevate (linked). it gives you a few games to do every day and has been a quick and easy way to remind myself i do in fact have a working brain aside from that, just READ!! i know its a lame answer but i truly feel there's no better way to combat brain rot and increase your attention span. you don't even have to read anything serious - whatever you find fun or interesting, read about it instead of watching tiktoks/youtube videos.

recommend this just like, in general bc although it’s not the most meaningful use of my time it’s SO fun. have done this before mid-post meltdown/panic attack and my god does it do a good job at 1) distracting you, and 2) making your nervous system realise you’re actually not about to be swallowed by a whale. my go to is the Upstairs Neighbours podcast (!!!) and games like Super Mario 3D World, Zelda Breath of the Wild, etc. (if you’re not a video game person the bottom line of this is: doing multiple things that you enjoy so you don’t have space in your brain to spiral and instead realise that there are still things left to make you happy despite whatever’s making you anxious. good luck!!)

schedule a day to cram a bunch of stuff into your brain. listen to weird music, read challenging literature, try to learn as much as you can. i am so unbelievably guilty of NOT doing this. most days i'll just let content enter my head; no thought behind it and no absorption of knowledge. it leaves me feeling so cluttered. gotta start scheduling days like this for my own sanity.

Its cliched but it's true. I've got a bad case of scatter brain at all times. But I've found peace and progress in dedicating small, increasing increments of time to the things I am interested in. Take it one day at a time and don't beat yourself up if you miss a day or two. But try to be consistent. 10 minutes of this, 15 minutes of that. Before you know it you develop a habit that is actually good for you. It also helps me to put my phone on airplane mode and disconnect while I do these things. Just me and the interest. It's not a science and it won't happen overnight. But before you know it you'll just be sucked into rhythms of the things you want to do rather than the things that rot your brain.

i had just turned 5, i went with my mom and lost my favorite velour zip-up. i revisit let go every few years. i'm with you kinda one of the best songs ever.... i also have an autograph from her somewhere from that night! after the show, she came back out and let audience members come right up to the stage to have things signed - i'll always remember that because i've never seen another artist do it
