Vintage stills and film cameras are cool, but this kids video camcorder has unironically found its way into my collection of cameras. I’m serious, I actually use this. It’s so fun, the quality has this weird 2000s vibe and feels like one of those millennial home movies.

The digicam’s older big brother. Why waste time with VHS After Effects plugins when you could have the real thing? I have a Sony CCD-FX63 and I can’t believe I found it for $20 at Goodwill.

I got out my Sony Bloggie ™️ that I hadn’t touched in 11 years (!) and it’s perfect. I was thinking of wasting money on some new small non-disposable camera to participate in the awakened phenomenon of using a digital camera. I did have fun taking a trip down memory lane, there are pictures (+ versions) of myself I haven’t seen in forever. It was super cool.
ALSO the bloggie is just awesome! I got it as a gift to record youtube videos as a kid (lol). I carried it around like a phone and felt so mature, but it’s also sooo cool that’s it’s literally that small. The resolution is good, the USB is INSIDE the camera for charging/transferring data to a computer (no cables!), it doesn’t need SD cards at all, and you can just take it anywhere!. I’ve already taken selfies and blown my mind with how much fun i’m having.
If u must purchase a camera…maybe get a refurbished bloggie….? But use any of your old cameras pls. Beat the consumerism demon. Ur old camera is (probably) just as cool as mine

Modern cameras are marvelous and one of the most beautiful ways to demonstrate something visually. However if you want to not only show something, but capture a feeling and memory, there’s nothing better than the earthly feel of an old camera.

I’ve never been to Disney as a kid and as I grew older I always felt like I was too old for it. I spontaneously tagged along with my family the day before they left and I think that was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and Avatar, and even as an adult I think I had the best week of my life and I felt like a kid again. I legitimately had real tears of joy on some of the rides. It’s never too late!

While everyone is raving about their trendy nonstick pans, I’m here to bring the spotlight back to cast iron cookware. There’s a huge stigma around how hard it is to take care of cast irons, but it’s really not bad! You just gotta keep using it, and over time, it basically becomes nonstick. This article has sent off a tangent, and now I am a proud owner of a well-seasoned cast iron pan and griddle.

Excessively hiking this year has been so fun, but the other half of the fun is the technical hiking apparel that goes with it - oh, and wearing only hiking gear even when I’m not hiking. I really appreciate Japan’s love for outdoor style and culture. GO OUT’s web magazine has been my daily morning check-in and my biggest outdoor gear inspiration. I recently picked up a few of their physical magazines (it’s hard to come by in the US) and I really enjoy flipping through them every now and then. Contrary to typical magazines that we’re used to, GO OUT magazines are basically beefed up catalogs of goodies and collabs that make for great coffee table content.
