I got out my Sony Bloggie ā„¢ļø that I hadn’t touched in 11 years (!) and it’s perfect. I was thinking of wasting money on some new small non-disposable camera to participate in the awakened phenomenon of using a digital camera. I did have fun taking a trip down memory lane, there are pictures (+ versions) of myself I haven’t seen in forever. It was super cool. ALSO the bloggie is just awesome! I got it as a gift to record youtube videos as a kid (lol). I carried it around like a phone and felt so mature, but it’s also sooo cool that’s it’s literally that small. The resolution is good, the USB is INSIDE the camera for charging/transferring data to a computer (no cables!), it doesn’t need SD cards at all, and you can just take it anywhere!. I’ve already taken selfies and blown my mind with how much fun i’m having. If u must purchase a camera…maybe get a refurbished bloggie….? But use any of your old cameras pls. Beat the consumerism demon. Ur old camera is (probably) just as cool as mine

got a $40 digital camera bc i kept running out of storage on my phone. it is so fun and the quality isn't perfect, but it is nostalgic and dreamy, and shoots well in bright light. at some point having every function in one device became, somehow, addictive AND boring. more dedicated media devices in 2025!

i've always wanted to tote around a camera with me with the intention of taking more pictures. for awhile that was my grandma's vintage kodak cameo, but then developing film became so much more expensive and i stopped. i didn't necessarily want a 2000s digital camera because having screens to look at in a camera makes me feel unecessarily judgy of myself? 😭 i found out about this by accident through an ad on reddit and i was really taken in by it having the uncomplicated energy of a film camera but the convenience/cost saving of digital cameras. i've had this for about 3 months and i love it. i actually remember to snap quick photos but i'm not staring at the screen contemplating whether or not my teeth look weird. it's sturdy too! my clumsy self has dropped it in my rocky backyard.

Vintage stills and film cameras are cool, but this kids video camcorder has unironically found its way into my collection of cameras. I’m serious, I actually use this. It’s so fun, the quality has this weird 2000s vibe and feels like one of those millennial home movies.

I’m not off streaming, but these are some things I do to feel the fun in movies/music again and diverge. I’ve always kinda been a CD supremacist and saved/kept buying them, it’s never too late to start, for any medium! - investing in some equipment like DVD, CD, cassette, etc players if you don’t have the old ones to dig out, or they’re too messed up. A decent DVD player is super inexpensive these days, avoid internet nostalgia up-sellers - going to any random thrift store, including the ā€œbad onesā€, and really going through their book/CD/DVD inventory THOROUGHLY. Pick up what looks interesting, it’s likely something you already have in your digital library will be there for cheap and to own forever. - patronizing remaining movie stores, they can be few and far between but the people who run them are usually very passionate about film. If you have one within a reasonable distance from you, it feels great to take a DVD back they recommended you or a familiar classic. Going to the movie store can be so fun and is something we’ve been deprived of since DVD’s decline. Same for music shops - exploring obsolete mediums, if you end up getting a VCR you can find tapes for super duper cheap and watch a lot of movies and expand your library fast! - movie or music or medium specific swaps if they’re in ur area, or trade with fellow enthusiasts anywhere you can find them, even online movie clubs

I went to an incense making class earlier this year for my birthday, it’s super easy and makko powder is basically the ONLY thing you need to buy to make incense at home. Itā€˜s pretty cheap and lasts a while, you can get it on amazon. All you need to make incense is equal parts makko powder, your dried+pulverized herbs/flowers/etc, and water (give or take on the water, use your intuition). And boom, you have incense ā€œdoughā€ that you can now shape into cones, dry, and burn. I’ve been making incense with what I can find around me, natives and invasive plants. It’s awesome and I totally recommend it. Making incense makes me feel like the computer energy is leaving my body. (pic is of the class incense set up)

He passed in May, he was 11 years old. His name is Bear/Tarzan. It broke me. I always thought this was one of my favorite pictures of him, I’m really glad I had it saved somewhere else because I took it a while back. I was so happy to find it I cried. I want to get this picture tattooed one day. I miss my big gorgeous angel boy so so so much. <3
