I was completely ignoring screen timers until I had someone else set the password. Now I’m actually locked out of social media and I don’t have to pay another service for app limits. I originally had the screen time capped to an hour and a half a day for ig, youtube, and tiktok, and I’ve been able to lower that down to a half hour. So you don’t need to quit all at once.

What you will need: - An IPhone - A trusted person (partner, best friend, family member, mail man etc.)
How to: 1. Go to the screen-time section in your settings 2. Set up App Limits (e.g. 30 mins of Instagram per day) > ensure to select block when limit is reached 2a. (Optional) set downtime and select block apps during downtime 3. Select always allowed apps (like banking, healthcare, PI.FYI etc.) 3. Ask your trusted person to set a screen-time passcode (they will need to have an Apple account for the recovery email incase the passcode is forgotten)
Implementation: - when your apps with limits are reached or your downtime is on all apps with limits or not in ‘always allowed’ will be locked. - the only way to unlock them is to ask your trusted person to enter the pin. They can unlock the app for 15 mins, 1 hour or ‘all day’
You are welcome 💕

currently going crazy cause i decided to turn them off but going to for sure turn it back on soon but insta is the only platform i use where i watch short form media and what helped me stop going on it so much was setting limits through screen time. it started with an hour then i kept on decreasing it till reaching 10 minutes. sometimes i do access it on my laptop cause theres no limit on it but i don't find myself doing it too often and only really do it to reply to my friends who send me stuff but yeahh thats kinda whats helped me personally

this app has changed my life it’s the only thing that’s legitimately worked for controlling my screen time essentially it lets you assign time limits to certain apps, as well as a limit on how many times a day you can open them. for instance, my limits for instagram are ten times a day, for ten minutes at a time. the apps are locked by default which forces you to be more intentional every time you do open it. highly recommend, i’ve been using for almost a month and my screen time is down by HALF!!!

Recently, my mom spotted a robin's nest outside her kitchen window, inspiring us to research their behavior. Last week, we learned that the parents can craft as many as three new nests during a single mating season, dads raise the babies once the mom is incubating the next eggs, and couples return to the same spot to repeat the cycle year after year. We researched the different calls and what scientists think they mean. We've graduated to interpreting the songs ourselves. Yes, that's the baby cry! Since researching robins, I feel more connected to and curious about the species I see daily. And it makes me feel closer to home.
She texted me this picture and said: My morning started with my binoculars observing the baby robins learning to fly and find food with their mom, she brought snacks lol. One has been getting into trouble. She just chased it down from a tree. The one on the far left. She is chasing them around.

Every summer, I yearn for an adult version of the elementary/middle school reading log homework. Public library summer reading bingo (with prizes!) has cured me. Bonus points to the King County Library System for using the same Seattle-based artist (@oddrabbits on ig) to design the adult, teen, and kid bingo boards. If anyone has recs for any of the categories, let me know! So far, I've checked off: grief, author from another continent, new-to-you format, humor, read in public, monsters, and buddy read.
