I find slicing the roll in half, then halving those halves, then halving those again till you have 8 bites gets the most even sized pieces of sushi. You did a great job!

@SALAD_VALET thankyou I will be using that, I’m actually laughing rn because my pieces were so uneven and I was hoping it wasn’t extremely noticeable 😭😭

i unironically wash my rice 10 times (in a strainer in a bowl) for sushi rice. it also helps to let some of the water dry off after washing. i found it tedious but my husband loves doing it and finds it meditative. then I use equal amounts water and rice in a rice cooker, truly couldn’t live without one. I also use kohoku short grain rice, getting nicer rice does unfortunately make a difference. i make my own seasoning with recipes online but it’s usually some combination of vinegar and sugar and salt. this looks great!!

@WORLDONFIRE thankyou So much!! I used the rice in the kit but I can definitely understand how quality rice makes that much of a difference, I did really try my best with washing it but if I’m being very real I did get impatient and called it a day after about 6 rinses 😭😭

Serious sushi chefs only touch rice for their first 3 years of training, so you can put in a little extra effort and make your rice better. Like an omelette, one of the easiest things to make, but most difficult to perfect.

Last night was the first time cooking for someone in my new place. I made kbbq beef and white rice. We had Plum Sake and strawberry mochi to finish it off. More of this in 2025.

No I don’t want your socials. I don’t want to know when you’re active and not replying, I don’t want to know when you’re posting stories or who you’re following. I don’t wanna know. Tell me in person, when we go on a date. I want you at complete face value with zero pre conceptions.
