This stuff isn’t fancy - tins are v cheap in my local Portuguese shop. But my god once you’ve had it you’ll never go back to the grey slurry that passes for basic canned tuna ever again. I chop up some lettuce, tomato, coriander, spring onions and then dump the can (with oil) on top, plus salt and pepper.

I‘m so happy the tinned fish trend shows no signs of stopping because it’s a a fun way to try more seafood and you get your omega-3s in. But tuna is still my favorite despite the mercury risks. I like the Callipo brand but anything packed in oil and not Bumble Bee is fine. I put it on everything- pasta, salads, toast. I used to think I didn’t like tuna but it turns out I didn’t like mayonnaise! Try it!

completely different experience than canned tuna in water, it will elevate anything you eat it with, honestly you could eat it out of the can like a cat

I spent most of my life thinking they were cat food at best. But I visited Clydes one day for bivalves and martinis and tried their new conservas menu. Now I am watching tinned fish reviews and eating all kinds of sardines.

Hearts of Space, Echoes, Star’s End, I love them all. I’m from the UK and it seems absurd that FM bandwidth is given over to something so slow and thoughtful. (Obviously online we have NTS and I treasure it.)

Incredible, overlooked singer from Montreal who made beautiful, hazy, minimal electronic torch songs in the 80s. New archival compilation just dropped and it’s INCREDIBLE. In a parallel universe, New York Grief has soundtracked a million movie heartbreak scenes (at the very least it should have been a Wong Kar Wai needle drop)
