In your luteal phase, you’re immune suppressed— this is so your body doesn’t clock sperm as an alien invader and destroy it, so while you feel really good during ovulation, you are also more likely to be sniffly, or sick, or pimply during this phase. So think through what you do for yourself when you’re under the weather, and do some of those things. What works for you is specific to you, but some things that work for me are: cutting caffeine, eating more nutrient dense and fatty foods (loaded lox bagel, eggs, salmon, dark greens), doing my favorite skincare rituals (the Beekman warming clay mask is great), and remembering to take vitamins (iron, B6, a prenatal multivit).
Low intensity exercise, like a yoga flow class or a gentle weights exercise can be really beneficial. I like to schedule girls night in around my period— right when I’m feeling awful and low energy, my friends are over with wine and dessert.
Sleep when you’re tired, and remember that soon, you’ll have more energy in your follicular phase. You and your body are on the same team.
