Savage Garden’s 1997 debut album was the first one I bought, swiftly followed by Natalie Imbruglia. I really loved Australian pop music of the 1990s, I suppose. I memorized every single word to “I Need You” and can still sing/chant them from memory to this day. This album is all over the map, as are the aesthetics, but for whatever reason, it worked on me. And damn if they didn’tinadvertently wrote the best ad for cherry cola.
