This is a gem of a restaurant. Lit by candlelight, the 18th century house is adorned with wooden chairs, gingham couches, grand fireplaces, and a bar cluttered with glass bottles that catch the flames burning at each table. I felt as though I was invited into someone’s home, and the glasses and plates were recently pulled from their cupboards. We ordered a radish special, which I topped generously with their freshly whipped butter and flakey sea salt. I finished the meal with a velvety cup of coffee and a super sticky toffee sundae, served in a silver dish with homemade vanilla ice cream and whip.Ā Ā  I want to be there every night, and I feel that its specialness would remain robust in the face of my frequent visits.Ā

Ok this is basic but................ The bf's lovely parents took us out to dinner here last spring and it genuinely lived up to its reputation as a city staple. The bone marrow and steak tartare were to die for and the rest of the table seemed to enjoy their oysters and escargot. My entree was good but forgettable (as in I can't remember what I ordered but remember liking it)--next time I go will definitely be for hors d'oeurves and wine. Opted for the Grand Marnier soufflƩ for the table & it was yummy as well. Keith McNally (love or hate him) knows what TF he's doing

Discovered this lovely charming restaurant on a recent trip upstate and had to go to dinner there two nights in a row it was that good. It’s on the only corner in Germantown which overall honestly seems as fake and random as my Jeffree Star hand mirror; there’s this gay ass laundromat, next to a gay ass plant store, next to a gay ass market, next to this gay ass mid century modern furniture store.. and that’s pretty much the entire town. I’m not really complaining though, it just seems a little odd since I’m from the Real American part of upstate NY. Anyways, the food and drinks are amazing. I had the bluefish which was the juiciest and most delicious fish I’ve ever had in my life. It looked like pork and had fat on it but also looked like it had chicken skin on top but it was definitely 100% fish. The chocolate cake for dessert was psychotically good as well. Since the airbnb was only like 3 mins away and it was the middle of nowhere so I didn’t mind having a few whiskey cocktails before getting behind the wheel and driving home. Nail me to the cross I was on vacation!

One of the most luxurious meals I had all last year, kept me warm until spring. 4+ course dinner with drink pairings, all local fare from the catskills, hosted in a beautiful farmhouse of the couple who make all the dishes and beer. Seats fill up quick, I would even say it’s worth the drive all the way from the city.

In pre-21st century movies and media, we always see couples that go to bed, independently read their books, and once sleepy, clap off the lights and peacefully retire to sleep. Maybe there’s a reason this trope is so common! Maybe couples who read together, sleep together!! Reading before bed regulates my brain and body in ways I did not know were possible. Screens are bad for you, specifically and especially before bedtime… who knew! And with a good nights sleep I have so much energy to do things, including but not limited to more reading.

Collecting a stack of printed takeout menus from local restaurants is equivalent to finding community in your town/city. I love to get off my phone and flip through a printed menu when deciding what to order for dinner, appreciating the graphic design choices and the hometown staples on each menu. And they are only wasteful if you waste them! What great material for emergency note-taking, for adorning your fridge, for COLLAGING! Oh my goodness what great and meaningful content organically exists in a printed takeout menu from your favorite local spot.

I fear one of the top reasons I get out of bed for my perhaps boring, often drab desk job is to wear outfits that are neither boring or drab! Do my coworkers entirely understand why I wear my layers? Not necessarily, but they’re learning! Today I wanted to feature my ā€œGeminiā€ pin to celebrate the season and my upcoming birthday in eight days!
