One of the most luxurious meals I had all last year, kept me warm until spring. 4+ course dinner with drink pairings, all local fare from the catskills, hosted in a beautiful farmhouse of the couple who make all the dishes and beer. Seats fill up quick, I would even say it’s worth the drive all the way from the city.

This is a gem of a restaurant. Lit by candlelight, the 18th century house is adorned with wooden chairs, gingham couches, grand fireplaces, and a bar cluttered with glass bottles that catch the flames burning at each table. I felt as though I was invited into someone’s home, and the glasses and plates were recently pulled from their cupboards. We ordered a radish special, which I topped generously with their freshly whipped butter and flakey sea salt. I finished the meal with a velvety cup of coffee and a super sticky toffee sundae, served in a silver dish with homemade vanilla ice cream and whip.   I want to be there every night, and I feel that its specialness would remain robust in the face of my frequent visits.

Discovered this lovely charming restaurant on a recent trip upstate and had to go to dinner there two nights in a row it was that good. It’s on the only corner in Germantown which overall honestly seems as fake and random as my Jeffree Star hand mirror; there’s this gay ass laundromat, next to a gay ass plant store, next to a gay ass market, next to this gay ass mid century modern furniture store.. and that’s pretty much the entire town. I’m not really complaining though, it just seems a little odd since I’m from the Real American part of upstate NY. Anyways, the food and drinks are amazing. I had the bluefish which was the juiciest and most delicious fish I’ve ever had in my life. It looked like pork and had fat on it but also looked like it had chicken skin on top but it was definitely 100% fish. The chocolate cake for dessert was psychotically good as well. Since the airbnb was only like 3 mins away and it was the middle of nowhere so I didn’t mind having a few whiskey cocktails before getting behind the wheel and driving home. Nail me to the cross I was on vacation!

Had an amazing dinner at Alice in the West Village. Perfect lobster ravioli. Delightful cocktails. Beautifully imagined venue. Worth the trip downtown.

This place became my band’s and my comfort spot in Berlin while we were homebasing it there this summer. The Frisch gestrudeltes Softeis aus Brandenburger Büffelmilch (with shortbread cookies and olive oil, with or without the lemon curd) is the best ice cream I’ve ever had. My mother in law keeps chasing the dragon in Manhattan trying to find a comparable one. Her search continues.

It’s not a game, it’s a simulator. I discovered it this year and it’s one of the only things that lets me mentally check out. Designing five-way six-lane highway exchanges and water treatment systems for 100k digital citizens brings me calm. The metropolis I’m working on right now is called Dirt Roadington, but by now I have upgraded all the dirt roads to nice ones lined with trees and bike lanes. Pairs well with the slight oxygen deprivation of an airplane ride.
