Interesting video essay on the nature of art today and what is/ isn't subversive - while I don't necessarily agree with every point made, its certainly something to think about and a great way to spend 45 minutes

A fascinating example of women using textile art as a revolutionary tool. Side note: I feel like a LOT lately the sentiment that “art is revolutionary” has been pretty wide sweeping and all encompassing, but I feel like the over generalization has lead to some lazy art that relies too heavy on identity politics (speaking more specifically about what I’ve seen in white dominated queer spaces) to carry the weight of what the work (and the process behind the work) is supposed to be rebelling against. I agree that art can be a tool to revolution if it is used with direct intent and inventive methods.

a thoughtful and nuanced take. maybe we were all making derivative, practically machine-dictated slop all along? maybe there’s value in engaging with this new technological and creative landscape?

A website with a collection of screengrabs from nearly every movie you could think of, and you can sort by film title, director, cinematographer, year, genre, country, etc. Great for visual references for lookbooks, or just to discover a new film you might be interested in seeing! I've attached one of my favorite stills, a great moment from Chungking Express (Dir. Wong Kar-Wai, 1994).

Just going out and picking up any kind of used physical media (books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes) makes the archivist in me happy, like I’m preserving somebody else’s story/ enjoyment of something My personal favorite thing is VHS tapes, I’ve got a decent collection (all thrifted) and they’re usually the cheapest things offered
