There’s something so human about taking photos of mundane and repetitive things like meals. Like yes I made that / I made the journey to come eat this. It’s not something made to be permanent, but some pizza slices and random assortments of snacks need to be remembered no matter where we are in the world.

I always try to consider what little moments happen every day that you might otherwise overlook. Like, for me-I always want to look back on photos of things that I would consider to be “everyday memories”. While it’s great to have pics of birthdays and special memories like holidays, I always find the ones that mean more are just the plain, everyday ones. So things like someone in your family cooking dinner? Take a picture. Going for a walk? Picture. Driving? just take a picture!! Those simpler moments are what you’ll really want to look back on!!

Bringing my digicam on walks has helped me pay attention to small and mundane things around me everyday. It’s beautiful capturing a moment that others are living! Here’s a picture I took of a truck which has a logo that matches the mountain peaks behind it! :)

I bring a sketchbook wherever I go, especially when I know I’ll be going to places with art or interesting architecture. If you’re not an “artist” or have little experience in physical mediums I think it’s still a great mental exercise and cannot recommend it enough! Every skill is learned! Here’s a sketch from today based off of Mattia Preti‘s “Saint Paul the Hermit”
