This is a bit broad, but I really enjoy walking around large buildings when there's no one around. There's a nuclear science complex in my university that has a very desolate utilitarian feel, so that's always fun to just walk around.

Most underrated liminal space is the route home from school when you’re ill. Being outside of school on a weekday and school/working hours felt so forbidden and unknown, super empty streets that are usually so busy when you’re going to and from school. Like the whole world is hiding from you, feels like you’re in an alternate universe

I can zone out. Nobody is going to bother me. I don't have to feel rushed. I can feel lonely while I'm around a bunch of other people.

Maybe I recced about this before, but it is worthy of duplicating. There's a field not far from where I live. Hidden, accessible via a closed off road. You gotta park and walk and know what you are after. I go there to think and read and sit and make coffee. Sometimes bring some printouts and a pen to work on stuff. Now and then I take others. Usually alone. The phone doesn't get to come along.

It's far too easy for me to burn a few hours digging through Wikipedia hyperlinks and trawling through yards of text. It's a very fun way to gain cursory knowledge about possibly obscure topics, and you can find some pretty bizarre stuff if you know where to look.

I'm admittedly a sucker for a local paper, and that increases tenfold when it shines light on otherwise underreported stories through a progressive lens. In Gainesville, this manifests in The Gainesville Iguana. You can find them at pretty much any record store, library, etc... for free!!!! The ads also expose you to local establishments and groups you might otherwise not have known about. There's a sense of community that emanates from the paper that you don't get in any of your other standard publications.

It can give new perspective on what's actually around you. A lot of the time, the veil of the windshield and fiberglass can keep the outside world as more of a backdrop instead of a lived-in space.
