Also this book is AMAZING. Really changed the way I look at not just fungus but the world. i read the standard text version, but he then released an illustrated version with photographs and diagrams and illustrations and im soooo jealous people get to experience it that way for the first time.

i got to read and write a paper about this for an anthropology class i took, and it was such and incredible book that i got my own copy after the class was over. i loved the sections on the cicada fungus and the slime mould that mapped the japanese train system the best

The hidden life of trees

What they feel. How they communicate.
You don’t need to be into plants to like this book. It’s simply letting you in in this other universe when humans are not the main character and it’s so beautiful and rewarding. Trees socialize, grow societies and children and take care of their neighbors and friends. And it’s not even a metaphor.

braiding sweetgrass by robin w. kimmerer

this book permanently changed the way i view the world. it’s a book that combines the indigenous viewpoint with a more scientific one as the author is a Potawatomi botanist. it is such a beautifully written and insightful book that i’m sure you’ll enjoy even if you aren’t into all that nature/biology stuff (although that would help). 100/10 would absolutely recommend
