such a wonderful and beautiful instrument that is very underrated - i’m biased because my dad is a professional organist and a professor of sacred organ music (yes that is a thing - he does in fact have six students in total) so i’ve listened to more organ than the average person - anyway i have such fond memories of him asking me for a song to improvise on (like happy birthday on my bday) and then he would play the closing music at church based on that and it would be like a secret between just us - maybe this is more of a dad appreciation post lol
anyway the organ should be way more appreciated especially outside of religious contexts - it’s such a glorious instrument like just think of the cornfield chase music from interstellar (which coincidentally was performed by a friend of my dad)
The behemoth of an instrument that’s becoming increasingly rare.
One time the organ director of a local Christian church took me on a tour into the pipe room, you’re literally stepping inside an instrument.
So insane
Picked one of these up for £25 from a charity shop the other day and I am immediately in love. It is so beautiful and loud and you have to wait a few seconds after turning it on for the fan to kick in and make it work
or even some brass and woodwind… like yes!!! you go girl, you play that violin…
making me feel all cinematic and full of body and life and stuff… crazy stuff right here!
today someone told me something about myself and they were just so completely off base that i started questioning my tone and facial expressions bc that was in no way the vibe i was going for
a related anti rec: people who meet you once and assume that they know everything about you (which they obviously don’t)
