The behemoth of an instrument that’s becoming increasingly rare. One time the organ director of a local Christian church took me on a tour into the pipe room, you’re literally stepping inside an instrument.
So insane
such a wonderful and beautiful instrument that is very underrated - i’m biased because my dad is a professional organist and a professor of sacred organ music (yes that is a thing - he does in fact have six students in total) so i’ve listened to more organ than the average person - anyway i have such fond memories of him asking me for a song to improvise on (like happy birthday on my bday) and then he would play the closing music at church based on that and it would be like a secret between just us - maybe this is more of a dad appreciation post lol anyway the organ should be way more appreciated especially outside of religious contexts - it’s such a glorious instrument like just think of the cornfield chase music from interstellar (which coincidentally was performed by a friend of my dad)
Picked one of these up for £25 from a charity shop the other day and I am immediately in love. It is so beautiful and loud and you have to wait a few seconds after turning it on for the fan to kick in and make it work
The flutist’s occasional breath catching and lip smacking catches me off guard every time…it’s a reminder of our mere mortality yet despite it all we are capable of letting God work through us to produce sublime things
