life has ups and downs and upheavals and I decided recently I would be 100% sober - it’s now day 3 and it feels uncomfy albeit serene to become familiar with every single emotion I’ve felt/haven’t felt yet
Comparable to: new and old friends reuniting/meeting for the first time and watching it all happen while you smile and let your giddiness take the wheel (first it’s panic but then excitement, it’s always the excitement that comes later)

im so sorry if this is too personal - i have also decided to be sober at least for a short term period. today is day one (some friends and i are doing “dry july”, except fully sober, not just alc) and already i’m struggling but tbh seeing u say this made me feel like i could do it nbd. (again sorry if this is too personal, pls lmk if it is)

conedsmj super proud of you for doing that with your friends, it’s crucial to have a system of people to support and tag along with you. I’m not gonna lie day 1-3 just blows if you’re used to drinking/substances on a reg basis but things become much lighter and freer by day 4, it just clicks after a while if you have a good system of people helping

Feeling a little excited and anxious and then you finally give in and realize you are just experiencing…happiness? And it’s not that scary to just let yourself feel happy And you don’t need to pathologize feeling joy??
