I can’t recommend it enough tbh. I went in there to return a few I had rented last week and got to spend 10 minutes lost in the shelves, just searching through films. There is such a great feeling of comfort I get by being surrounded by so many physical reproductions of the medium I love so mucchhh. It’s like my version of a museum.

Pretty sick, went with a friend and it was very funny. $14 Movie Theater IPAs were hitting in a fantastic way. Then we went to see the second half of the Knicks game in some dive in the Village. It was a great time, stumbled on the escalator in front of strangers. 10/10

I have another indie theater that I prefer because it’s cozier, has better vibes, is much closer to me, and everybody who works there is genuinely passionate about film. It’s not really anything special visually but it’s a beautiful institution and it’s so fun to be there ❤️ But this one is an old art deco theatre designed by architect John Eberson (he designed Loew’s Paradise in the Bronx and the Paradise Theatre in Chicago)! It’s pretty run down/poorly managed and staffed but it’s a gorgeous building and definitely worth visiting. Not my photos but included for illustrative purposes!!

Think: driving them to the airport during rush hour, moving furniture on a summer day, (in my case, see photo) cutting away at their badly overgrown garden when you are not a gardening gal. Or painting their bedroom on a whim, replacing their windshield fluid, or wrangling their demon cat for a trip to the vet. I read a Manrepeller article (RIP) years ago that talked about how helping friends with these tedious, unrewarding tasks is where the real work of friendship begins. You don’t get so see how they get frustrated over brunch, but you do when you’re both unsuccessfully dragging a couch around a staircase corner, and getting To bond and troubleshoot that frustration opens whole new doors for closeness. This wisdom has never led me astray! I almost always leave these kinds of labor-based hangouts feeling closer and more held in friendship!

People have the craziest convos on a train (I’m thinking Amtrak, Eurostar, etc) , especially the solo travelers who chat up the people sitting next to them. The last few times I’ve taken my headphones off on a train and tuned into the convos around me I learned and giggled a lot. Would highly recommend!

Simply nothing is more delightful than having a pre-bed mango. It hits harder, don’t ask me why I don’t make the rules!!! Also best enjoyed standing up, in PJs, in the middle of your kitchen(ette).
