In this regard, to what I like to call a funk. I feel trĆØs dookie. Lots of change in my life, and in times of instability I tend to fall off the horse- in a major way. Like many ppl. This past go round I have been excessively hard on myself over my general lacking in… well almost everything. Ive come to the conclusion that there are times you have to give yourself more grace than you’d like to. Maybe the pity party can last a couple more days than usual. I won’t go into details, bc as those of you reading who have dealt with mental health struggles, it can be sort of gross. Sure. There’s a ton I could be doing to put an end to my funk. Make more of an effort to dig myself out of the hole. But, at the end of the day I know I will come out of the funk in my own time. Faking myself out, and convincing myself I’m feeling better serves no one. Making yourself feel worse over feeling bad in the first place is just wildly counterproductive. Just keep moving forward in time. There’s a lot of it <3

I told a friend the other day I tried rolling up to the box office at MSG for Charli XCX's sold out show and my friend responded "what are you on Seinfeld?". Tea. But going to the box office is something that this digital age does not always consider. I have had much luck at any other "sold out" show in NYC by going to the box office on the day of, purchasing a ticket at face value, and strutting on into the venue. Typically the venue holds a row or so for the occasion. Unfortunately, the box office in reference at the top of this rec, did not deliver on my hopes and dreams of being Brat.

Going to the movies rocks. this was honestly such a hard question. This isn’t exactly the ~best~ movie but it is a great movie to see in a theater From like 19-20 going to the Landmark in Westwood to see the Room with my friends rocked. The Room is such a funny bad movie and it’s even better at this theater because of all the canned responses the audience has to the shit happening on screen. its similar to how campy people get with Rocky Horror Picture Show. People throw plastic spoons and loudly jeer at the movie. occasionally Tommy Wiseau and maybe Greg Sestero will show up and you can take a pic. Highly recommend pregaming and then going with your friends at least once sometimes a specific audience for it will suck but overall it was always pretty fun.

I have another indie theater that I prefer because it’s cozier, has better vibes, is much closer to me, and everybody who works there is genuinely passionate about film. It’s not really anything special visually but it’s a beautiful institution and it’s so fun to be there ā¤ļø But this one is an old art deco theatre designed by architect John Eberson (he designed Loew’s Paradise in the Bronx and the Paradise Theatre in Chicago)! It’s pretty run down/poorly managed and staffed but it’s a gorgeous building and definitely worth visiting. Not my photos but included for illustrative purposes!!

To start—> I don’t want this to come off as trauma dumpy, I am v happy with the person Ive grown into. Who I wouldn’t be if I didn’t have these experiences:) I’ve moved around so so so much especially as a kid. I used to feel v guilty bc there were a lot of friends I left behind bc of circumstances beyond my control. This pattern became a trend that continued throughout my life. Went to 4 high schools; was going thru a lot, and was referred to as a ghost. Having someone you didn’t even realize knew who u were say ā€œomg! It’s been a year! We thought you’d died, wow, how are you? Yk a lot of people tried to reach out…etcā€ completely changed my perspective on the world. I didn’t even realize the possibility I was really noticed outside of my immediate friend group. Another case happened this year at university. I was chatting w someone from a class, their friends walk up to say hi, and one says ā€œyour name is Sophia right?ā€ I said yes and assumed I’d just met her while drunk at a show. So I apologized, and asked her name/ where she was from and all that jazz. It got more awkward when she said we went to the same school growing up, same class and everything. I didn’t recognize her at all, but obviously she knew me, it was so bizarre. Continued to see her around campus nearly every day for the rest of the year Lolz. It didnt all actualize for me until recently, and still makes my head spin. I can’t imagine how many people I unintentionally became a ghost to :// being perceived is crazyyyy

If youve ever been curious about the culture and science around drugs, Vice had a series called Hamilton’s Pharmacopia. Some episodes/ specials are available on YT. Premise: Documentary Series- Hamilton Morris is a chemist with a proclivity for studying the effects of different substances and how they work. Each episode is interesting he interviews all sorts of ppl from all walks of life. For instance: interviews a visual artist seemingly addicted to DMT, Native Americans who welcomed him to experience a guided ritual, scientists who did jail time for synthseizing research chemicals… and so so so many more. Iā€˜m not super into the chemistry aspect, but a significant aspect of his show is based in the sociological and psychological affects of illicit substance. I linked one of my favorite episodes:) I also just luv Hamilton ā£ļø and if he ever sees this šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ«¶šŸ» lolz
