stop the stigma, buy a pickle on your commute, eat it on the street, prioritize your joy (the pickle guys $1 pickles on grand st will always come in clutch)

I told a friend the other day I tried rolling up to the box office at MSG for Charli XCX's sold out show and my friend responded "what are you on Seinfeld?". Tea. But going to the box office is something that this digital age does not always consider. I have had much luck at any other "sold out" show in NYC by going to the box office on the day of, purchasing a ticket at face value, and strutting on into the venue. Typically the venue holds a row or so for the occasion. Unfortunately, the box office in reference at the top of this rec, did not deliver on my hopes and dreams of being Brat.

Going to the movies rocks. this was honestly such a hard question. This isn’t exactly the ~best~ movie but it is a great movie to see in a theater From like 19-20 going to the Landmark in Westwood to see the Room with my friends rocked. The Room is such a funny bad movie and it’s even better at this theater because of all the canned responses the audience has to the shit happening on screen. its similar to how campy people get with Rocky Horror Picture Show. People throw plastic spoons and loudly jeer at the movie. occasionally Tommy Wiseau and maybe Greg Sestero will show up and you can take a pic. Highly recommend pregaming and then going with your friends at least once sometimes a specific audience for it will suck but overall it was always pretty fun.

I have another indie theater that I prefer because it’s cozier, has better vibes, is much closer to me, and everybody who works there is genuinely passionate about film. It’s not really anything special visually but it’s a beautiful institution and it’s so fun to be there ❤️ But this one is an old art deco theatre designed by architect John Eberson (he designed Loew’s Paradise in the Bronx and the Paradise Theatre in Chicago)! It’s pretty run down/poorly managed and staffed but it’s a gorgeous building and definitely worth visiting. Not my photos but included for illustrative purposes!!

recently forced myself to make a new fall playlist that essentially eliminated all of the sad songs from my old one. i’ve always been pro music to wallow to, but to my chagrin i’ve seen a drastic improvement in my enjoyment of things—at least the time that i typically spend doing “nothing.” slowly inching towards my idealistic picture of fall…

this is probably more nostalgia than the song itself but kate bush’s voice feels appropriate for making someone cry

just crazy good vibes to walk down the street listening to silly dutch guys rapping mediocre lyrics to sick beats (surprisingly hard to not dance along, though i may be biased as i am pro vibing to music in public)
