If it's a Mac, try Time Machine! It's a really good built-in backup tool that just requires an external drive big enough to fit everything. The configuration is really easy through System Preferences.

backing up your data is so important in these dire times, always make sure you have at least 2 backups of all your important data on some physical medium like a wd passport do NOT buy one of those orance lacie platter drives those things are GARBAGE + some kind of software that can backup and clone your whole computer and save it to either a cloud or a drive (or both if ur me) i recommend backblaze bc its a bit more reliable than timemachine imo

absolutely the shit and you should be doing it. companies like apple make it difficult on purpose. you want to back up all your photos, but you only get so much icloud storage and then you have to pay out the ass for more. FUCK that. don't listen to them. anytime a company is making it really hard for you to do something, that should clue you in that it is something you need to do. buy a computer that isn't made by apple. buy an external hard drive that isn't made by apple. save your fucking photos to your computer and your external hard drive. delete them off icloud because fuck apple, and what do you need multiple years of digital dead weight hanging onto your daily use device for? you don't. don't let them bait you with nostalgia. put that shit in two different places and then delete it. free up your icloud storage for something actually useful, like if your phone breaks (because we all know it will).

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️ Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
