If you’re from brooklyn or new york city or just moved here, i know, this is cliche. But i! Don’t! Care! The truffle popcorn is addicting, even if I'm farting for the rest of the movie, it’s worth it. Plus they have cute little trailers to gab about with your date or friend, but i also go alone because nobody tried to have small talk with you at the movies and you can just disassociate peacefully in blissful high-power air conditioning on a hot nyc summer day. They have guest curators on a monthly basis and do fun screenings of old flicks. Highly recommend it. Nitehawk > Alamo.

I have another indie theater that I prefer because it’s cozier, has better vibes, is much closer to me, and everybody who works there is genuinely passionate about film. It’s not really anything special visually but it’s a beautiful institution and it’s so fun to be there ❤️
But this one is an old art deco theatre designed by architect John Eberson (he designed Loew’s Paradise in the Bronx and the Paradise Theatre in Chicago)! It’s pretty run down/poorly managed and staffed but it’s a gorgeous building and definitely worth visiting. Not my photos but included for illustrative purposes!!

I told a friend the other day I tried rolling up to the box office at MSG for Charli XCX's sold out show and my friend responded "what are you on Seinfeld?". Tea. But going to the box office is something that this digital age does not always consider. I have had much luck at any other "sold out" show in NYC by going to the box office on the day of, purchasing a ticket at face value, and strutting on into the venue. Typically the venue holds a row or so for the occasion. Unfortunately, the box office in reference at the top of this rec, did not deliver on my hopes and dreams of being Brat.

for example - I find music theory very soothing - it’s only a hobby - i don’t intend on sharing my results with anyone - it’s like a puzzle for me - it is math - it is so fun to practice the shapes of the triads into my fingers - i love all the different ways these sounds can go together - i never lead with this as a conversation bc it’s only mine - i skip parties to study it - i stop scrolling bc i’m like - can i move my fingers faster in this pentatonic scale? - it’s literally so fun to have a secret hobby - nobody has to know

people aren’t a way because of a planet, things aren’t happening because of planets
astrology is a tool - planets are a mirror to what is happening on earth - in the same way one uses a mirror to pick spinach out of their teeth
there are many branches of astrology in the same way there are many kinds of engineering
it is not scientifically proven bc empowering ppl with a free tool (developed and utilized by cultures globally for 1000s of years lolz) would result in a huge economic loss for whoever funds the science tests.

body is a vessel who carries me through life.
i’m grateful for the body i live inside and she needs me to be responsible for her.
body positivity is difficult if ur looks oppose the standard of beauty in your region. and i've observed a tendency to ricochet into body negativity from there. Literally no - that is full trash - shame, hatred towards yourself is painful and inconvenient and lame?
so in body neutrality - thoughts become ‘what do i wear tonight to feel good? does this meal need to ground me or energize me?’ and suddenly life is more sensual because one is more embodied in every moment. there isn’t that outside - looking in at yourself to monitor your perfection or lacktheroef - vibe which keeps us out of our intuitions and impulses.
suddenly you are liberated and …it’s scary at first bc u have thrown away the point of comparison which you’ve measured life against?
if that makes sense?
