damn Geoff Dyer can write. the first half is escapist and light and funny and romantic and mean and lean and well paced and plotted but also messy and free. sections unforgettable. the back half is strained and strange but it’s worth re reading the first 120 pages once a year.
This book was so good in a sticky/gooey kind of way, like you know you should not be enjoying consuming it, but hell yeah of course you are. Wrote more thoughts here (let's be substack friends :)
