damn Geoff Dyer can write. the first half is escapist and light and funny and romantic and mean and lean and well paced and plotted but also messy and free. sections unforgettable. the back half is strained and strange but it’s worth re reading the first 120 pages once a year.
not underground or indie but upsettingly good
have been mostly able to write while reading it because i am paralyzed by its greatness
not even done yet just astounded
I’m reading this book on my kindle so had no idea i was embarking on a 500 page odyssey when I started reading. It’s crazy - I still don’t fully know what Surprises await me. it’s full of taboo stuff that keeps me turning pages
