Nothing is better than a solo trip to a museum with a pair of noise cancelling headphones. Screaming baby?? shithead tourists?? you'll never even notice. Everyone should spend a day with only art and music. It's good for the soul.

My roommates were gone yesterday so I did a whole day of working from home without using headphones. Meetings out loud, music out loud, youtube out loud. My ear drums felt so liberated!! Highly recommend

If you’re craving a bit more sauce in your life, I implore you to exit the figurative bubble that is noise cancelling headphones, and allow your environment to soundtrack your inner monologue — you’d be surprised how it affects the themes and tone of your inner world. Some brief background on this theory... In my experience, my music selection would often colour my thoughts, and unfortunately I have a penchant for sad boy shit. And sad boy music = sad boy. Conversely, if I made the deliberate choice to listen to “happy” music when I was feeling off, my mind would try to manufacture happiness through sheer will, exposure, and a repeated “happy thoughts” mantra. But this process rarely felt authentic, and all the more isolating.  Instead, I found that inviting the randomness of worldly sounds would take me on a crazy-eyed, spontaneous journey — internally and externally.

I think it’s sacrilegious to wear headphones outside because you miss out on eavesdropping, bird chirps, car window music, compliments, wind rustles. But on the subway it is loud and headphones help keep the screeches out. Also you never know when you want to just zone out to some Aphex or Cocteau Twins

definitely not! Speaking from personal experience - I went from totally fucking off (working like 10hrs a week) to working as a carpenter for years. Then I got interested in random shit online and made the leap from carpentry to working in marketing/jack of all trades for tech experiments and companies. I was 25 when I made the leap from carpentry to what I do now. I had no clue what the fuck was going to happen. I just felt like it was the right leap to make.

too many people think they're too cool to really tell someone you FUCK WITH THE VISION. like give and let that person know you think what they do is sick. As a kid, you know you remember how big it was to catch a compliment especially when it came to expressing yourself. be a fan. be corny. be genuine. be in the moment
being open to seeing the small details and beauties of everyday life. I feel like trying to remind myself to view the world this way has helped with both happiness and creativity. The world is filled with immense emotion and to be able to feel that is beautiful
