In a previous post, I've rec'd the book The Miracle of Mindfulness that kicked off my meditation journey. Recently, the meditation app Headspace put out two video series on Netflix, Guide to Sleep and Guide to Meditation. I’ve given both series a shot and they've been effective and are really well made. Other than the really sick graphics, I really liked how real studies were incorporated to debunk sleep and meditation myths that I hadn't known about. If you're looking to keep your mind at peace by dealing with troubling stress or sleep, highly recommended!

I know a few other apps have already been mentioned and they’re probably all doing about the same thing. the only time in my life that I was meditating successfully everyday for half an hour-1 hour it was after a long run up using headspace. they start with like a couple minutes completely guided and then gradually it gets longer and the guidance gets more sparse until it’s eventually just you doing it.

they literally should sponsor me because i also made another rec of this… they have a ton of different meditations (including the type, like body scan or loving kindness) done by a bunch of different people. i hate tech but i took a meditation course for school and then that reminded me how much i like meditation so started using the guided meditations on this app! i’m currently working on getting back into doing them every night instead of a few nights. if you can find a place to fit it directly in your routines that may also help!

i used headspace and I meditated at least once a day for about two years (I fell out of the habit because no habit is ever fixed with adhd but I might do it again!). it starts really easy and heavily guided and builds more and more space. I worked for me!

I’ve never been to Disney as a kid and as I grew older I always felt like I was too old for it. I spontaneously tagged along with my family the day before they left and I think that was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and Avatar, and even as an adult I think I had the best week of my life and I felt like a kid again. I legitimately had real tears of joy on some of the rides. It’s never too late!

While everyone is raving about their trendy nonstick pans, I’m here to bring the spotlight back to cast iron cookware. There’s a huge stigma around how hard it is to take care of cast irons, but it’s really not bad! You just gotta keep using it, and over time, it basically becomes nonstick. This article has sent off a tangent, and now I am a proud owner of a well-seasoned cast iron pan and griddle.

Excessively hiking this year has been so fun, but the other half of the fun is the technical hiking apparel that goes with it - oh, and wearing only hiking gear even when I’m not hiking. I really appreciate Japan’s love for outdoor style and culture. GO OUT’s web magazine has been my daily morning check-in and my biggest outdoor gear inspiration. I recently picked up a few of their physical magazines (it’s hard to come by in the US) and I really enjoy flipping through them every now and then. Contrary to typical magazines that we’re used to, GO OUT magazines are basically beefed up catalogs of goodies and collabs that make for great coffee table content.
