Iām from Vancouver where the only cute thing to do is ride bikes by the ocean. During covid lockdowns, I realized you can kind of do the same thing in NYC. I like to take a Citi Bike along The East River to Battery Park, and then up to one of the west side piers if there's time. This makes for a cute date if you want to pack a picnic, but Iām usually late and lazy so I just end up going to a restaurant in the village after the sun goes down. Last time it was Genes.

The views off the west coast of the peninsula are beautiful. A good sunset from there is breathtaking. Pier 57 is a pretty good food court type thing with public bathrooms. The docks south of the World Trade Center are usually pretty chill and scenic too. I havenāt spent as much time on the eastern side but Iām pretty sure thereās a park on the edge of east village that may or may not be nice

- Bk museum and Botanic Garden day (i did a whole post on this) - Super Power or Bearded Lady (sister tiki bars) to get wasted - live music at Babyās All Right, Gold Sounds, Alphaville, Trans-Pecos - a chic dinner & incredible food at Olea, Aita, Saraghina Cafe, Colonia Verde, LaRina, Sisters, Bunna Cafe - Turtles All The Way Down or Do or Dive for dive bars - Fan Fan Doughnuts - Greenberg Bagels or Lula Bagels - Island Pops ice cream - Nana Ramen, Ichiran Ramen - bars for dates: The Narrows, Doris, Hartleyās, Bar Laika, Bar Velo, Pokito, Lunatico - Fort Greene Park on a nice day - Drive to Highland Park for nature & to feel like you are not in the city - Red Hook day (wineries, breweries, + Steveās Key Lime Pie) - Rockaway beach - dirty chai ($$$$) from Cotton Bean or Marcy & Myrtle

š§¼Investing in a good shampoo and conditioner is key when you have bleach blonde hair in recovery from blasting it with one of those round brush blow dryers the kids on TikTok like to make fun of. I donāt really believe in sustainable consumer goods but this Davines shit is amazing and it comes in ābiodegradableā packaging that you can throw in the garbage instead of pretending to recycle it.

Theyāre heavy and sexy and silver and used by people who actually know how to make clothes. Iāve been ācustomizingā my wardrobe for years but itās only recently that my raw hem skirts and sweaters arenāt totally jagged and wonky. Itās called maturity, girls.

š I have a full time job and live in Manhattan so thrifting isnāt an option for me, which is sad because I think the best-dressed people buy the majority of their clothes from thrift stores. Thankfully thereās Poshmark, a place where you can peruse the closets of Floridian housewives and Las Vegas showgirls from the bathtub. Pro tip: online shopping is a brain massage made better accompanied by bad TV. I recommend pairing low ball offers with the latest season of 90 Day Fiance, or Gossip Girl reruns (the original series, not the new one)āif youād like to feel especially numb.
