share a meal
if ur awkward talking then eating/having a coffee together is usually a good way to fill the silence until the ice melts and something will always happen when ur eating that you can strike up a convo about(the food, ppl around you, neighbourhood ur in, decor, etc) that isnt stuff like life/work that often stresses ppl out or becomes repetitive typically if ur both listening well to the other then the convo will progress naturally and you wont be stressing about coming up with the next topic but instead struggling with when to stop talking and say ur goodbyes:/ my character is one thats perceived as random so the ppl i interact with are expecting unexpected topics? who knows what normal ppl talk about talking about their pets/kids maybe? but be prepared to be subjected to their camera roll

Yeah my fav kind of people in these situations are the random ones, like how you describe yourself, it’s always easier to keep conversation going and interesting when the other person is okay taking it anywhere. I like to allow my intrusive thoughts to do their thing but not everyone can handle it haha. I think it’s only an issue when the other person is not receptive to being open and exploratory in conversation. Henceforth, the reason for this ask. With that said, people watching, talking about design and decor, and the place you’re in are def good topics! And I got nothing against seeing pictures of peoples pets lol im happy to show them mine as well

@_BILAL_ ah i have met someone recently who doesnt go with the convo at all? like to the point i think they just dont want to talk..but my internal-turned-external monologue seems to be compensating so far

@_BILAL_ yeah I hate to say it but… they sound like a vibe killer, I cant put up with it lmao I would genuinely prefer they said “im not in the best mood right now” or said “I don’t feel like talking about this” and let me know what they WOULD like to discuss. Or if nothing at all! I’m pretty hard to offend so transparency is great.

@_BILAL_ exactly🤷‍♂️i always tell ppl when im not up for talking or just want to listen etc its a new acquaintance-ship so im willing to give it time but i can see ‘vibe killer’ being a good title for them

without a doubt way to get someone talking for at least 10 seconds guaranteed. everyone likes food and if they don't they have to eat it at least a little, and it's a quirky existential way to find out more about someone

Sometimes the best thing to do is just embrace the awkwardness. sometimes a Conversation gets awkward and the more you try to avoid that, the more the conversation becomes artificial and dis genuine. its normal to have awkward moments, and the best way to embrace it is to acknowledge it. if an awkward silence occurs maybe say “that got awkwardly quiet“ sometimes when things get awkward it’s a sign to switch subjects. ALWAYS try to find common ground when talking to new people. Ask them what they’re interested in, it’s fine to ask questions. Lastly if You draw a blank on what to say, if your brain freezes and you suddenly can’t think anymore, Make sounds until they’re words. The most awkward thing to do is nothing, so just do something
