• Cruel Intentions (1999). Wasn’t familiar with any material it was based on. Didn’t even watch the movie with Glenn Close. I had to pay attention to details a lot to know who was who because there are several characters, but I didn’t know how it was going to end at any point. Fantastic watching experience.
• Pride & Prejudice (2005). No I didn’t know anything about this, but I watched when I was a teenager. I also liked Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I didn’t think the title would be how it would actually play out.
I’m sure I’ve seen more movies that are relatively popular that I knew nothing about but these are the most memorable experiences for me.

then watching the trailer post, reliving all the fun [or not] times you just had. Did this recently with Anatomy of a Fall and wow, would have been a completely different [bad] experience if I had seen the trailers first.

Some of my favorite movie-going experiences weren’t ones I was looking forward to for months but ones where a friend had an extra ticket or someone said ā€œyou would like thisā€ and I went in totally blind.
Specifically, last night I saw ā€œAsh Is Purest Whiteā€ followed by a q&a with director Jia Zhangke. A great film with an absolutely knock out lead performance by Zhao Tao. I didn’t know any of these names before last night.
Take a chance!
