My dad gave me one of his books as a teen and at the time inspired my interest in psychedelics and just being curious about the nature of things. There are a lot of disputes about how real any of his novels are but that’s not particularly important to me. I find his stuff to be coded and poetic in a way that's both engaging and mysterious.

i read the first three books, the teachings of don juan, journey to ixtlan, & tales of power.
they were written in the 70s, the author is an anthropologist & becomes the student of a Yaqui Brujo. all about shamanism & magic. a journey to freedom.
changed the way i feel interacting with the world on a daily basis. really magic books

i love this book sm. the author is an anthropologist and activist who advocates for indigenous cultures of the amazon. he works with shamans and shares some of their deepest insights and proposes some profound connections to molecular biology. there is a focus on ayahuasca and shamanism throughout the book and there is a lot about human-plant relationships especially in medicinal practices that is absolutely fascinating. it is my absolute favorite book about spirituality!

He wrote Zorba the Greek, the book that changed my life in such profound ways I couldn’t explain. The movie is pretty great too. Currently reading Report to Greco before sleeping, which is making my dreams feel like an absolute excavation of my soul. Highly recommend. Might hit even harder if you’re a pisces like him (and me).

When I was a kid, a friend and I walked to the beach and saw a shadowy figure wash up on the shore. First thinking it was a dead body (bad trip) we later realized that it was a mother sea turtle giving birth and then going back out into the sea. Probably the most beautiful thing i’ve witnessed to this day.

What can I say? I made a whole album about this and have no doubt this will continue to be my lifelong obsession. These colors are like no other.

I only saw this movie just recently but it completely blew me away visually & conceptually. I think its ahead of its time in the way it shows how consuming other people’s experience can be addicting and lead to unexpected problems. Everything is “playback”
