I only saw this movie just recently but it completely blew me away visually & conceptually. I think its ahead of its time in the way it shows how consuming other people’s experience can be addicting and lead to unexpected problems. Everything is “playback”
saw it on sunday and im still thinking about it multiple times a day; a dissociative psychedelic suburban nightmare that is also incredibly focused in its delivery of a very important message. made me so incredibly emotional. really unique cinematography as well and i love how the soundtrack is like an alternate-universe 90s teen movie soundtrack made by contemporary artists.
apparently i’m on a David Lynch binge i… am still processing what the ever loving hell i just watched. the symbolism, the sound design, the visuals. everything in this movie is just perfect. it’s so disturbing that it’s beautiful
When I was a kid, a friend and I walked to the beach and saw a shadowy figure wash up on the shore. First thinking it was a dead body (bad trip) we later realized that it was a mother sea turtle giving birth and then going back out into the sea. Probably the most beautiful thing i’ve witnessed to this day.
My dad gave me one of his books as a teen and at the time inspired my interest in psychedelics and just being curious about the nature of things. There are a lot of disputes about how real any of his novels are but that’s not particularly important to me. I find his stuff to be coded and poetic in a way that's both engaging and mysterious.
