im going through my makeup stash and chucking things that i donāt like anymore, and it got me thinking about my journey with wearing makeup and how itās another ārite of passageā thing that most girls deal with. i donāt remember having blatant restrictions on makeup in my household and outside middle school no one dared to try anything. but to point i feel like yt makeup tutorials were slim pickings back in the late 2000s/early 2010s. and i didnāt really become interested until later. i did have a black eyeliner that i used for my eyebrows (which i probably shouldnāt have).
i remember asking my mom when she started wearing makeup, and she told me more or so around 16 and her dad wouldnāt allow her and her sisters to wear certain makeup looks or certain color lipsticks. she mentioned that itās because her parents didnāt want her to look older.
i hear that statement a lot from parents who restrict makeup use, saying that āit makes you look olderā. and thinking about it now, 1) thatās bs if you think that a painted face on its own makes someone look older and 2) you mean you hate that certain styles make people seem more mature in attitude, too showy, or āsluttyā, and that doesnāt make sense me either.
using makeup ā being more mature, sexual, etc. itās just a product, no different than a crayon in my book

šstory time! in high school i was so insecure that i literally would not leave the house without doing at least 30-40 mins of full face makeup. i decided to stop wearing it my senior year and became really determined to put it away for good.
but slowly over the last several years, i reintroduced mascara, then a tiny bit of concealer, then a little eyeliner, and now iāve found a routine that feels right for me! and i do not rely on it like i used to, i can walk outside without makeup and feel totally good about myself.
but ive also been scared of getting too much back into makeup. iāve been holding myself back because i donāt want to bring up those old insecurities and become completely reliant on it again. but i just bought a very colorful eyeshadow to try and it reminded me how fun it can be!!!
long story short, have fun with bringing color back into your life. dont let fears of regression stop you from experiencing joy!

štry something new ! go back to when you would smear your momās lipstick on and try on her heels that are so many sizes too big - so many different makeup looks to copy and have fun with (def rec devon aoki makeup for all my cute cheek low visual weight face girlies š)

idk how i came across this in my daily wikipedia surfs, but something about this painting just amuses me so much.
my first impression was this looks fairly modern in a way, possibly because of the composition and how she made her features so light and bouncy. it oddly made me think of disney when i looked for longer. then i see it was made in 1909 š
this painting can transcend times and i wouldnāt truly know when it was made unless i looked more closely at the objects around the subject. but even that can be a stretch as vintage items can be popular amongst anyone and they can just have their vanity setup look like this.
i tried looking for photographs of her online but alas nothing came up with certainty.

i saw something on here a day ago about how fireflies are disappearing and lightly catastrophized the scenario. but then as i regulated myself i looked up an article lightly extinguishing my concerns.
so as i look at the copious little flickers out my window, ill be glad to tell you that while firefly populations are decreasing, some firefly species are adapting to new environments trying to prosper and evolve. big causes for their decline are obvi climate change, urbanization, and light pollution. a simple way for you to not make things bad for the fireflies in your area is to not use pesticides on your lawns if you have them. they spend most of their lives in the ground so it starts at the soil.
additionally, every article i see with the salacious title about ālast generation to see firefliesā seems to be blocking out a lot of things about current firefly populations. most of the fireflies on the IUCN red list they keep mentioning are marked vulnerable or least concern. so there is a possibility a species or more of fireflies may disappear, but all of them i donāt think so.
