@SAYLOR wait how are people using AI to write books??? like to research or something?
@SAYLOR oh no, worse. There are people actually typing things in like “write a novel similar to x by x author” or they’ll do it with specific scenes. There was an author who got caught doing it because they published the book and left the prompts they gave the AI in😵💫
@SAYLOR one of them that I saw an article about I just found again, it was a Lena McDonald, I guess she writes some kind of dark fantasy or something? Anyways she left prompts to AI in the book, people pointed it out, and then the book was just quietly updated. Yikes.
plagiarizing is fine for a first draft as long as you can eventually make it your own - i find copying the style of someone else is a good exercise

this is super real . And I think there’s a difference between taking inspiration as a jumping off point and straight up copying, the goal of finding your own voice is by writing & writing & writing
