My grandparents live up there and I have lots of summer memories from this region, but coming back as an adult with my own kids hits different. 🥲 So peaceful and quiet and mostly hidden away from tourists (no shade to tourists as long as they don’t trash the environment!!)… feeling very lucky to have been able to escape there for a few days and enjoy our first lake visit of the summer. Highly recommend as a vacation spot to anyone visiting Michigan for the first time!
Hey there! I'm also in the NW part of the state at this very moment—made the 800 mile trek to visit family and arrived today. Swam in Lake Michigan as the sun set a couple hours ago. Glorious!
@MATTSHAWSOME WHAT!! If we’d overlapped we could have done a mini pi.fyi meetup lol! Love that you’re there and enjoying the beauty, hope the rest of your trip is lovely ❤️
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a hidden gem. Takes some effort to get to but it is just a stunner and a land of delicacies. Mackinaw Island fudge, cherries, ice cream, pasties (savory pastry not the nipple covers), and tons of swimming opportunities.
bc it’s what I originally wanted when I first went to college at 17 but I was scared to make writing my job and got a B.S. in Nutrition instead lol
Now the goal is an eventual PhD in Victorian Literature but I’m just happy to have made it through this part at 32!
Stacked is everything I read in my English courses—barely pictured are the 5 stuffed accordion folders of other reading materials under my chair haha
