This is a Punk Appreciation post.
I love punk. I love how it protests capitalism by upcycling clothes and accessories. I love how it protests the patriarchy by defying beauty standards. I love how it challenges you to be a rebel by not complying with the wave of trends and templates.

👗I'm not ONLY talking about slogan shirts from your party of choice, or the satire shirts that poke fun at fascists (although those are both good starts).
I'm talking about the deliberate cultivation and curation of clothes, brands, items, etc that directly speak to your personal morals and values. Fashion is much more of a political playground than Western people give it credit for. Obviously, it will look different for everyone, but it's all about sitting with oneself and asking the question, "does my closet represent the values I want to live by?"
I've leaned into my fashion politics by: - Deliberately turning away from fast fashion, because as a person who comes from the Global South but lives in the US I don't want to contribute to the further oppression of my people (I am very privileged to opt out) - Buying second-hand clothes (they're better quality than today's clothes anyway) - Mending the majority of my clothes until they can no longer be repaired - Taking up embroidery to customize my clothes and make art (fiber art has historically been used in activist circles and movements!) - Deliberately buying from locally owned businesses, and looking to designers in my family's home country for "designer" or formal wear
Obviously this is what works and resonates for me, but I only got to this place because I spent time reflecting on myself, my values, the limits/affordances of my economic standing, and how I can shift my closet to reflect them. It will look different for everyone, but remember the goal is not "perfection": the goal is to nurture a better relationship with our closet, our personal style, and strengthen our politics through the direction of our money and physical expression.

👕People are absolutely riding out every single micro trend. From sambas (Don’t get me wrong I did own a pair) to those brazil polos, ppl are just wearing what they see will get them validation for being “on trend”. People post “what bags are we wearing this year“ or “are brandy Gina tops ugly I don’t want to throw mine away”, like just wear what you like!!! Also its not really about if the clothing item is trending or not, it’s more if you’re genuinely into it.
I think a plus to TikTok being banned is that it could force people to find out their personal style, so yay !

👚My favorite thing about myself is my style!!! I really like how my accessories compliment me and I also love to mix to match and I think that its fun to have my own personal collection of clothes and accessories and sorta my own philosophy to the way I dress

As I’m reading the book “Bojack Horseman: The Art Before the Horse”, I’m learning that the actors almost never record their lines together.
The show is amazing, the dialogues flow so beautifully, so it seems insane how the actors can convey such chemistry while recording alone in a booth.
Paul F Thompkins: “It’s the only chance we get to act opposite each other. So we really get to play those moments, those real sad, or angry moments with each other at those table reads. (…) I’m always seated across Alison Brie, and to be able to do those emotional scenes from their marriage in person like that - you know, even though she’s playing a human and I’m playing an anthropomorphic dog - to get to play that relationship, even just one time face-to-face, is always very exciting to me.”
Allison Brie: “We get to experience the scenes together, playing off of each other and getting a sense of what the other actors would be doing. So when it comes time to record alone in a booth later, we can recall how it felt to do the scenes together”
