As I’m reading the book “Bojack Horseman: The Art Before the Horse”, I’m learning that the actors almost never record their lines together. The show is amazing, the dialogues flow so beautifully, so it seems insane how the actors can convey such chemistry while recording alone in a booth. Paul F Thompkins: “It’s the only chance we get to act opposite each other. So we really get to play those moments, those real sad, or angry moments with each other at those table reads. (…) I’m always seated across Alison Brie, and to be able to do those emotional scenes from their marriage in person like that - you know, even though she’s playing a human and I’m playing an anthropomorphic dog - to get to play that relationship, even just one time face-to-face, is always very exciting to me.” Allison Brie: “We get to experience the scenes together, playing off of each other and getting a sense of what the other actors would be doing. So when it comes time to record alone in a booth later, we can recall how it felt to do the scenes together”

this is so interesting!! I absolutely love bojack horseman, it’s one of my favorite shows. learning this fact just adds that much more detail to the show. so cool!

vadoraa if you like the show, I’m sure you’ll love the book. It has so many fun details about the making of the show. For example, did you know that the visuals came waaaaaaay before the idea? Lisa Hanawalt had been drawing anthropomorphic animals for years, which then inspired Raphael Bob-Waksberg to create an animated visually based on it. And the book is full of those as well 😊

Bloopers

I’m going to be the first director to leave the bloopers in the movie. Why not.I love seeing people have a good time. When I watch the “Friends” gag reel It sends me to the moon. It gets me caught between the moon and New York City!!! What I would give to have been a part of something like that. Or a part of anything. I hope to be a part of something, anything, one day.

Particularly for you Americans out there. As with all the best comedy, I hear a line from this show in my head almost everyday as things happen around me. ‘This is the one thing we didn’t want to happen’ etc. The video FX and editing are genius and have not been beaten imo.

Letting your inside plants go outside

Whenever I need to clean the house, I have to move my plants in order to dust the furniture. Recently I’ve been placing them outside (when the weather conditions aren‘t too harsh), I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.
