I recently rewatched Glee and fell back into a Darren Criss rabbit hole. He’s got this exceptional new rom-com musical that he produces and stars in, for which he originated the male lead. Simply put, I loved it. But please, please take me seriously when I say: personally, this broke me a thousand times harder than La La Land.
I don’t want to talk about it too much, because it’s something that’s better to come into blindly, but I’m tellin’ ya. There is a reason this won 6 out of 10 Tony nominations. There hasn’t been an original musical that has moved me this much since probably Hamilton. And that was a decade ago! For people who are part of the outcry for original material on Broadway, This.
