I'm recommending a novel that I started reading for the first time yesterday, so take this with a grain of salt — I'm only a quarter of the way through. Pride and Prejudice + Jayne Eyre + Bell Jar (maybe?) = too early to really tell, but snappy and delightful and not sure where it is going Written as journal entries by 17-year-old narrator, published in 1940s
NOT! Don't do it. It wasn't good. I started reading this, enjoyed-ish the first third, tolerated the next third, and then against my better judgment read until the end. Instead pick up I Capture the Castle, one of my favorite finds of the year: Jane Austin x Sylvia Plath.
this short novel revived my love of reading and though i haven’t read My Year of Rest and Relaxation, it seems to me if you want to be inside the head of someone insufferable but relatable (and queer!) you could always choose Cassandra’s. I also heard Neon / John Early won the rights to adapt it so….
this is worthy of celebration: the lack of video—autoplay video, noisy inane video, panicky video, algorithmic, dumb video, rabbit hole video, any video—on pi.fyi is a good thing
