Men and women in Quindío, Colombia, make a dance consisting of them fighting with machetes. The concept is the man has to demonstrate he has what it takes in order to be with the woman holding the machete. He has to demonstrate that he can defend himself. It's a reference to the life of peasants in the colonial era, as the machete, even to this day, is a traditional instrument they use to assist them in their labor. In the same vein, it assists them with the beat of the song.
