i'm glad i chose history of african american music as one of my courses, it would've been quite hard for me to really understand the film otherwise. still learned a lot from it though!

in honor of lena dunham having her second feature on pi.fyi i thought i would share the simple fact that in middle school i was a hard-core theatre kid and once I found out andrew rannells was in girls i decided to watch it. this also isnt helped by the fact that bc i was a theatre kid i loved the show "smash" so when I found out mr.rannells did a cover of one of the songs from that musical show ON "girls", it was set in stone that i would watch it. idk when i decided to quit maybe halfway thru s2??? i cannot remember ngl! idk. maybe someday i'll return to the show. anyway the lesson here is uhhhhhh idk maybe normalizing getting into something bc of One Simple Stupid Other Thing. maybe the lesson is to watch "smash" and listen to the song "let me be your star"? maybe i have to learn a lesson and finally watch girls in full bc i remember jack shit from my first watch thru.
