Buying shit on ebay

From the thrill of discovery, making bids, the buzz of a score or anguish of a could-have-been, a random box showing up that has been packed by some dude in Minnesota… I love it. The best way to shop is either setting a hyper-specific alert for something and finding it five years from now or by typing in all the potential typos it could have, or either searching for a vague combinations of names and details and seeing what comes up. Embellished pearl sweaters? Art deco servewear? Plastic organizers? There’s probably also something good about reuse and sustainability here too. The only thing I don’t love is that my saved searches and watchlist are full so I have to keep deleting and replacing, but never change, eBay.

I buy most of my stuff on eBay.I dont look at specific sellers, i look for specific things.I can get pretty close to exactly what im looking for…whether it’s tailored, workwear, and old ll bean shirt, well loved old dress trousers…you can find anything.  Sometimes, something shows up and it’s just amazing.  I’m not a gambler, but this is a way to scratch that itch?Ive eaten it on a bunch, but im getting better.

I don’t know I’m kind of miserly and fucked in the head

even though I could shop the normal way in theory I prefer to buy everything secondhand. I also hate to buy clothes everyone else is wearing. I have two Goodwills of preference I frequent with regularity; I like to go wild on Poshmark sort low to high with minimal use of keywords and liberal use of custom filters (especially brand); I find some interesting things on eBay from time to time; I like shopping clearance at TheRealReal but they like banned me… sometimes Marshall’s and TJ Maxx have cute stuff. Don’t cancel me but I’m also an Aliexpress diva and I’m in some groups of likeminded ladies about this on the dl. I look for natural fibers, good construction, and, in used garments, a tasteful but not excessive amount of wear

Making ai hate more public

I know I’ve ranted about AI before but! Just saw another writer who was doing peer reviews as she was writing chapters with another person; until she found out the other person was using AI for their NOVEL! Blows my mind. She removed this person from her document and sent her a kind but straightforward message about how she won’t be working with her going forward due to the AI usage. I feel like using it for novel writing is one of the most insane uses because #1 this person told me that the AI generated parts of the work weren’t even as good as the other person’s normal writing was. #2 let’s say no one noticed and you published with the AI work, so you would be okay if the book did well but it wasn’t even truly your writing that people would be praising?? Not to mention of course the morality and environmental impact. Also, I was shopping around today for a custom leather stamp to start stamping the leather journal covers I make. Thought I found someone to make it until they said to send the logo file over and they’ll send back AI created renderings of a mockup to approve. Now I am starting the search all over🙃

WALK OUTSIDE MORE

Today was one of those bad days where it causes a headache and you feel exhausted from everything, but somehow a nice long walk outside made things seem a little better. Fresh air and thinking or daydreaming while listening to the sounds of outside. I sometimes find myself taking for granted the place that I live, I work or I’m too tired and I use that as an excuse to not go outside more. Yet every time I get the chance to spend the time outside, I can’t say I ever regret it. I’m going to make it a goal for myself to try and take a walk outside at least a few times a week.
