Iām a big proponent of Canada Gooseābut they did stop using real wolf fur in recent years. Iād also recommend Boden or Patagonia for lighter weather. The North Face has some good products you could check out like their HMLYN down parka or McMurdo line.
REI usually has some good downs too, but Iām pretty sure theyāre rotational and differ based on region.
Iāve spent most of my adult life so far all over the east coast and my advice is that if youāre looking for an all-in-one option, yeah, the parkas are good. But I would also recommend having some lighter down jackets, at least one pullover sweater, and some layering, as well.
As for being current college student, Iāll let you know that sometimes, you just say āfuck itā and go out in your hoodie and a beanie or ear muffs when itās -10Ā°F and deeply regret it after š. Also scarves/neck gaiters MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. ALSO WOOL SOCKS.
And though I canāt speak on these brands as of late, my friends recommend LL Bean, Columbia, Lole, and Alpha Industries.

TNF is a BFD in the outdoors space, but its real special sauce comes from translation. This checkered out, mohair-alike down parka mixes the brandās heritage alpine DNA with the panache of retro suiting for a frickinā 70s blow out. So much high-end outerwear is emotionless: black GORE shells, slick matte surfaces.Ā This is the opposite. Well, for one, mechanical clocks sound so much betterāthe ringing of perfectly chiming metal is far more pleasant to the ear than whatever Apple sounds we canāt even differentiate from a phone call.
