when im in a reading slump i go for books that are a collection of short stories. the shorter length makes it easier to finish a story in one sitting so you can have that sense of accomplishment and also variety without a big commitment.

๐I don't think that short story collections are appreciated enough, and beyond being fun to read, they are the best way to get out of a reading slump. My top three favs are Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado, Homesick for Another World by Ottessa Moshfegh and Nineteen Claws and a Blackbird by Agustina Bazterrica :) they have all left such an impact on me

๐dystopian/post-apoc easy read! I donโt read a ton of books in that genre, but found it really compelling

๐or long stories, whatever floats your boat. for me, short stories seem less intimidating to get into and they usually pack a crazy punch. also good to get em in print so you arenโt staring at a screen. if you get invested in an author or series or publication, it can offer u soooooo many things to do- from checking out lil book shops, to visiting libraries, to attending readings, to joining book clubs!!! i know that in brooklyn there r a lot of rlly cool poetry readings happening in the evenings. could be fun to check out!!!
