Trying to remember that there doesn't have to be a clear narrative or dramatic production to make a good music video. It just needs what, like,, engaging camera/subject movement + somewhat cohesive color/texture? trying to try every day. Any advice? I love music and videos
I am so so so bored of lofi music videos shot on mini dv / hi8 / 2000s camcorders. It‘s 2025 people - have some ambition.
Feels like people are relying on the aesthetics of the medium to carry their work and forgetting that the concept and subject and content of the video itself needs to be interesting.
felt like being a hater today.
Sometimes you listen to a song and you just don't get it. "Skip" you say. This was me when I first heard You Killed The Music by Debbi Dawson. Then I saw the music video and everything changed. I got it. Now when I play the song I'm transported to an ABBA-esque, sparkly, low resolution, kaleidoscope dream world. Sometimes you really just need a good visual to connect to a project.
I just watched a TikTok (🔗) OK Go made about making the music video for Here It Goes Again and it warmed my heart. Sometimes we become so familiar with something we forget how magic it is. I really love reminiscing early internet / YouTube stuff, and this sums up the silliness a lot I think. OK Go were truly ahead of their time! Fuck ur big budget mv!!
