1. The sentimental things boxes kept in the closet(they are both crammed full. Do I start another or transfer everything to a scrapbook? Who knows) 2. Binders that contain art and fashion sketches in rough chronological order. Also a reference photo binder. 3. File cabinet for typical file fare. Bills, taxes, owners manuals, etc. 4. Catchall box on my desk for catching all the bits of paper to be sorted into the proper place. Primarily holding pictures of food for a decoupage project. 5. A newer adoption into the over arching "system", taping or gluing tickets and whatnots into this year's journal/list book.

- I keep misc. 2d ephemera in large paper boxes. early on it was shoeboxes so that’s childhood-college (plus the β€œe-files my dad has kept of my earliest paper days) and now i have a bigger photo box and will soon graduate to another. this is post-it notes left by my husband, movie ticket stubs, programs from exhibitions or shows, wristbands, business cards; receipts, etc. all loosely organized but sort of layered like the starts of a landfill or rock formation to be sifted layer by layer during times of reminiscence. - photos in the envelopes i get them at the print shop labeled with the time. these are in a large fabric box. photo strips are in a small plastic box but regrettably unlabeled (if you like photo strips, condition yourself early on to date them because you will thank yourself later on) - birthday/christmas/etc cards in a pokemon happy meal box, will need to get another - written recipes (from myself or others) in my recipe tin - i keep important legal documents and passport in a fireproof envelope my mom got me for christmas a few years ago. she had a nightmare about fire and got everyone fireproof envelopes. - boring tax shit in a plastic box in case i need it - my marriage certificate in a silver plated scroll -lately i’ve been keeping a scrap journal of notes, recipes, sketches, schematics, clippings, etc. really no rules no boundaries shut any time i need a piece of paper i add to it or glue small things i’ve accumulated in it and i think ik do this going forward. i also add any stickers i acquire to it.

I got myself in a pickle by having multiple journals/notebooks dedicated to specific purposes. I ended up not writing in any of them because they were never nearby when I needed them. So now I have one. If I want to write, it goes in here. If I want to scrapbook, it goes in here. If I want to sketch, it goes in here. Not as ecclectic as I hoped at the moment (it's mostly journaling and creative writing), but the point is these pages have no expectations.

For a hoarder like me, what better way to organize cute aquarium tickets or photo booth strips than collaged into a little notebook for posterity?

The first album that I bought was a .25 yardsale cassette of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. No case or album art. I couldn't even tell you why I chose it but I was absolutely hooked when I popped it in my tape player when I got back home. If we're talking full price CDs from the store, my first was Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. My dad told me not to waste my money buying an album for just one song. I had to insist that there were 3 songs that I knew I liked and I wanted the album to see if there were more. There were, in fact, a couple more songs I liked but, if my memory is right, I only really listened to the first half and then really disliked the second half.

Look, I'm a little purse freak, I won't lie. But she was a dollar and I know I can teach her to love again. Also, I'm going to Philly for 3 days in November and she'll carry my necessities without letting me over burden myself.
