i often see people flip their hats over not finding a proper purpose or meaning within the confines of life. understandably so, its an open ended carnie game. there’s no definitive strategy to battle whatever danger spikes at throws at you, but ive found the best way of dealing with it is to actively pursue it. engage with it, savor it, and ultimately, melt into it’s many pores. you’re all wonderful nutrients that life craves. you all will always be capsules of life forever longing for itself.

i used to think that i could one day solve all the personal issues that were holding me back from my phantasmic idea of happiness and once i reached the top of that hill i would live forever; bathing, figuratively, in morning light from a kitchen window, a purring cat by my side and no dishes in the sink, and now i see my life stretching out, beyond that calm august day and into the sludgy, dark evening commute of an eventual february and back, and i see that my life is not a problem to be solved but a state of constant movement, two steps forward and one step back in perpetuity. my joy will be lost and found over again with the swing of that pendulum

Consciousness can be agonizing but it's also a miracle. Sometimes the pressure to make the most of it feels debilitating. There's so much I want to do, and I have to remind that the stuff that really gives life meaning isn't hard to access. I think making a true effort to know yourself, make connections with the people around you, and observe and engage with the world are more than enough reasons to justify your existence.

nonchalant olympics these days, man. do you know the kind of roar of beauty, pain and desire we get to wake up to everyday? its life; it is that serious! take a breath of fresh air, and reside in your body as much as you can; it's our duty to feel, if it wasn't we wouldn't be blessed with the ability to do so. learn to love it!

Such a wonderful album by a wonderful indie Scottish band. The lead singer just excudes so much mania and whimsy and the instrumentals across the album are on point. Definitely recommend if you’re into Yo La Tengo or Stereolab.

the ever-so lustrous author John Green came into my work back in November. we chatted a bit before he went back to his group of friends. before he left, i went out back to get something for him to sign. the best and most evident thing i could find was an empty egg carton. i presented the carton as a dada piece i was working on as a joke and asked he if he could sign it. not only he inspected, opened, sign it, he also wrote down a recommendation for a dada book called Young Adult Novel (something similar to Kurt Vonnegut’s Time Quake) on the side. in retrosepct, i feel silly and foolish for subjecting him to such a thing, but im sure he appreciated it and had a laugh about it. (P.S. i tried to find Young Adult Novel but searching only brought up the genre. i’m beginning to think he made it up. did John Green prank me as vengeance for my silly carton act?)
