Unless you’re really attuned to it, there is almost no discernible difference between audio quality on vinyl vs cds/other formats. Having your like absolute favorite albums on vinyl is fun but trying to amass a large collection isn’t worth that kind of money imo

buy cds instead. just as cool and you can drive to any goodwill at any time and find some really good albums for 99¢. not sure about you, but 40 cds sounds a lot more fun than one or two neat vinyls!

you really gotta rethink your relationship with music. I started buying records when I was a teenager and built up a pretty decent, curated collection over the years, but it’s really only worth it if you buy the albums you truly love and want to revisit over and over again. If you treat it like an extension of Spotify, where everything is available instantly, you will be broke and disappointed.
The other thing that people don’t tell you about buying vinyl is that it takes a lot of time. Buying used records is the cheapest way to build your collection, but that means rummaging through a lot of junk. This is fun! But it is also time consuming.

New vinyl is not worth the money at all. It’s thinner and warps easily. If you’re into older music it’s definitely nice to have around, especially if there’s a decent record store near you that doesn’t overcharge.

Freshman year I went through an industrial phase so I was really into stuff like Rammstein, KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, Revolting Cocks, etc. Sophomore year is kind of a blur but I remember listening to a lot of LCD Soundsystem and Kraftwerk. Junior year I got REALLY into shit like Bikini Kill, Hole, Sleater-Kinney, etc. Also went through a good month or two where I was only listening to ska. I have no recollection of anything I did during senior year so idk what I listening to lol
