While Hip-Hop aficionados laud Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) as one of the most talented MCs the genre has ever seen, Bey has seen little appreciation among PEOPLE I KNOW IN REAL LIFE. I chose to EXCLAIM that because I know that Mos Def still remains firmly ingrained in the minds of many people to this day; however, for as much critical and fan attention as this man gets, I simply do not think it is enough! Why am I bouncing on Bey’s balls so brazenly? There’s not many albums that I consider to be genuine 10/10s. Many come close, but the weird little Anton Ego goblin inside of my head who tells me that everything in the entire world is garbage always has something to bring up that often ends up in whatever album I’m listening to falling short of the fabled Ratatouille Realm. And then there was Black on Both Sides. Almost everyone I’ve met that has listened to this album in full has great things to say about it. So many back-to-back bangers that you’d think you were watching Human Centipede. Fresh production combined with witty lyricism and more flows than a leaky diaper make this album truly one of a kind. Actually, I suppose every album is truly one of a kind so this doesn’t really mean anything. How about I just say that this album is a masterclass in Hip-Hop as a poetic art form? Delivering powerful political messages in a way that doesn’t bore the listener or feel overly preachy is always a difficult task, but Bey steps up to plate and knocks that shit into the stratosphere. It’s not just stuffy politics either; Mos Def knows how to have fun. It’s rare to see such a blend of characteristics in one rapper, especially during a time in which many Hip-Hop artists drew from a limited pool of subject material and remained confined to the styles of their predecessors (aside from notable mavericks such as Kanye West and MF DOOM). If you call yourself a Hip-Hop enjoyer or just want to find a new album to listen to, please consider checking out Black on Both Sides by Mos Def.

When these kids first came straight outta Long Island in 1989, there was no such thing as ā€˜backpacker hip-hop’ or even really an ā€˜Underground’ Something this eccentric and funny (FBOW, hip-hop skits started here) didn’t even have an audience. It had to be built. Posdnuos, Trugoy (RIP) and DJ Maseo created a whole new world with producer Prince Paul that we are still exploring today. Give ā€˜em their flowers šŸ’ Three Feet High and Rising De La Soul Is Dead Buhloone Mindstate Stakes Is High ā€œā€˜Catch me breathing on planes where the gangsterā€˜s outdated/ Fuck being hard Posdnuos is complicated.’ This shit is GOLDEN. šŸŽ¶šŸŽ§

1. firstly, i think watching youtubers who spend a lot of time alone can help, it can give you an idea of how to spend the alone time you have 2. secondly, alone time is really good for getting to know yourself and what you like/dislike, it also gives you a chance to think without any outside noise (people) 3. thirdly, alone time doesn’t have to be boring at all! spending time alone is really good for independence as i think it can help with becoming more self reliant 4. keep in mind that a lot more people do things alone than you realise - examples include solo shopping, going to art galleries or events alone, eating out alone and you might have seen someone when you’re out who’s doing something alone but you’ve not realised mainly because it’s very normal - go on walks and pick a new album to listen to or a new artist each time - start watching a film or tv show, you could make your own cinema experience by eating popcorn and snacks and wrapping up in blankets - do some journaling, scrapbooking or collaging, junk journaling is so fun and put on some music in the background to make it even more relaxing - watch how to videos for creative projects, this is random but theres so many videos on origami etc and other types of paper craft, i made pipe cleaner flowers not too long ago and theyā€˜re very easy to make - watch something in another language, i love kdramas and watching them takes my mind off things mainly because i have to concentrate on the subtitles

i could go on about this for days on end because i think there’s similarities between this and the way some people treat influencers and small musicians online now
